 TNUSRB SI EXAM

 TNUSRB SI exam is held for the selection of Sub Inspector at posts of Taluk, Armed Forces and Tamil Nadu Special forces. The aspirants should also check the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. The minimum educational qualification required is a graduate degree or equivalent from a recognised university in India. Also, the candidates must have studied Tamil till 12th grade, or they should pass the Tamil exam before applying for the TNUSRB SI exam 2023.

TNUSRB SI Syllabus 2024

The TNUSRB SI 2024 written examination will consist of Paper 1 and Paper 2 for both open and departmental quota candidates. The TNUSRB SI syllabus 2024 for both parts of the written exam is detailed in the tables below.

Open Quota Candidates

Part I. Tamil Language Eligibility Test

  • The Tamil Language Eligibility Test is qualifying in nature.

  • The objective-type paper will consist of 100 questions for 100 marks and the duration of the examination will be 100 minutes (1 Hr 40 mins.)

  • The candidate has to obtain a minimum of 40 marks (40%) in the Tamil Language Eligibility test, for him/her to be eligible for evaluation of their main examination OMR answer sheet.

  • The marks obtained in Tamil Language Eligibility Test will not be considered for preparing the provisional selection list at any stage.

  • In respect of 20% of Departmental candidates, the Tamil Language Eligibility Test will be commonly conducted along with those applying for open quota.

  • The candidates who have applied under both the Open and Departmental categories will have to write the commonly conducted Tamil Language Eligibility Test only once.

Part II. Main Written examination

The Main written examination consists of Part A and Part B.


Part A: The first part of the paper is based upon the General Knowledge of the candidates. A total of 80 questions are present in part A, which carries 40 marks. Thus each question carries a half mark.


Part B: The second part includes an extensive syllabus with a total of 60 questions carrying half marks each. Part B consists of 30 marks. All the questions in both parts are of objective type.


The total duration of the paper is 2:30 hours. Candidates must secure at least 25 marks to qualify for further rounds of the selection process.

  • Both parts have objective types of questions.

  • Each correct answer will be awarded ½ mark.

  • There is no provision for negative marking.

  • Total exam for 70 marks.

Departmental Quota Candidates

Part I. Tamil Language Eligibility Test

The provisions for Tamil Language Eligibility Test are the same as those of the open quota candidates.

Part II. Main Written examination

The Main written examination consists of Part A and Part B.
Part A: The first part of the paper is based upon the General Knowledge of the candidates. A total of 30 questions are present in part A, which carries 15 marks. Thus each question carries a half mark.
Part B: The second part includes an extensive syllabus with a total of 140 questions carrying half marks each. Part B consists of 70 marks. All the questions in both parts are of objective type.
The total duration of the paper is 3 hours. Candidates must secure at least 30 marks to qualify for further rounds of the selection process.

  • Both parts have objective types of questions.

  • Each correct answer will be awarded ½ mark.

  • There is no provision of negative marking.

  • Total exam for 85 marks.
